We had so much fun last night. We were inches away from justin townes earle and we ate dinner at our favorite wine and cheese bar. The venue was awesome too. Apparently it was a mortuary at one point. Its called the chapel and it was so small there wasn’t a bad spot to stand in the entire place.
i’m so excited. colin and i just purchased this print from an organization i adore with all my heart: http://www.sevenly.org/
this week our purchase help fund a company that fights human trafficking. each week there is a new cause featured to help bring attention to organizations everywhere trying to make a difference. you can look through their list of past campaigns. of course i’m obsessed with helping animals and they definitely highlight charities that help animals in need. cannot wait for another charity of that sort to be the cause of the week. so many great products—and they are all fair trade, ethical materials made in L.A.— does it get any better!?!?
this is the sites moto:”By creating weekly cause campaigns where customers could purchase products that gave $7 to a weekly charity, Sevenly successfully unlocked not only a way to crowd-fund for causes, but to drive massive social awareness as well”
i love being married to someone who is as open as i am to experience new cultures, places, foods and drinks. We recently celebrated our anniversary in san francisco exploring what mission district had to offer. we focused on two streets, mission street and valencia street. this month we are going to be seeing a show at the chapel and i wanted to try a new restaurant on valencia. i came across Gracias Madre a VEGAN MEXICAN RESTAURANT. of course i have the greatest husband ever and we officially going to try this place for dinner before our show!! i cannot wait!!
House made chips tossed in a creamy chipotle salsa verde topped with cashew crema and cilantro and raw cheesecake! um, yes please!
greatest, gift idea—EVER. farm sanctuary is one of the greatest organizations in existence. they rescue abused farm animals. they go above and beyond for the animals in their care, which include hefty medical bills. so they obviously can use all the help they can get. one way they raise money is through farm animal adoptions and you can even gift a pet adoption! they have three locations. i want to adopt a farm animal, so bad. they give you visitation rights and they have a location in orland, ca. we could visit each time we go to oregon. adlfkja;ldkjfaldkjfasldkfjadkf definitely on my birthday/christmas/anniversary/future motherday gift wish list lol. <3
any time we are in san francisco we visit north beach. vesuvios and city lights bookstore are two must-go places for us. i love that my favorite bookstore is next to our favorite bar and both are filled with equal amounts of literary history and stayed open equally as late. it is so fun to wonder around a bookstore basement at 11:30 at night! ending our weekend with a baseball game was perfect. even though we got shutout we had AMAZING seats (two rows back) and it was definitely time well spent with the hubby.
we spent the weekend at a few of our new favorite places in san francisco: Mission Cheese (wine and cheese plates, yum) and Foreign Cinema (outdoor movies and creme brulee, yes please) on Saturday for a late lunch and dinner, then on Sunday we went to Craftsmen and Wolves for breakfast. These are located on Valencia and Mission, two streets right next to each other. Each experience was perfect and we will definitely be going back again! We even accidentally came across a music venue we will be going to later this year to see our favorite musician. The food was amazing, the presentation was fun and the atmospheres were perfect. I literally had the best weekend, ever, with my best friend. HAPPY FIRST ANNIVERSARY COLIN. <3
i’m trying to find a fun drink recipe to match a cute cake (or donuts) to celebrate our anniversary. i thought these were perfect. everything is extra special—which is exactly the kind of cute details i want. i found all of these photos on pinterest.
the trailer from our wedding. i adore the company we worked with and cannot wait to watch our full length video again when we get back from our anniversary getaway. so many special moments i love reliving over again.
cannot believe our one year anniversary is almost a week away. i’m excited for the weekend we have planned in san francisco to celebrate. it will be so fun to reflect on our year together and look through all of our photos and watch our video together. we’ve had so much fun settling into our home and planning for out future. so happy i married my best friend!
i LOVE diy tutorials. not only does this post from THE CREATIVITY ROOM share how to make these adorable cake stands, they also give helpful hints to recreate the cakes and banners. PERFECT.
our one year anniversary will be april 21st. to celebrate we’ve planned a special weekend in san francisco and also want to plan a cute little photo shoot to capture our special day. everything will definitely be diy, including our cake (we didn’t save ours, it didn’t even last a month in the freezer…). i LOVE ruffle cakes and think this would be the perfect style for our cake. i came across these two diy posts:
i’m definitely going to practice this before officially creating our anniversary cake, but from what everyone says online this is pretty easy. i’ll be sure to post my own trial and errors when i attempt this.
colin and i have no idea how to incorporate color into our home and i think we’ve just accepted that we will forever live surrounded by rustic/cream decor. with that being said i want, want two of these chairs from world market real bad (Linen Ella Side Chairs). we’ve seen the price on these drop and then rise again, right now you can get two for 319 at world market. which is a great deal, especially if you peek over at restoration hardware and look at their price for chairs similar to this, but we’ve seen them priced lower, so we’ll be patient and wait… i guess.
i was looking at vertical gardens and NEVER thought to bring them indoors! i love, love the idea of having a vertical garden in our kitchen. we can fill it with plants to purify our air and even include some practical herbs. colin agreed he’d help me build this. i cannot wait. we have a huge wall in our kitchen this would fit perfectly on. then our seating area will be filled with air purifying plants and have outdoor charm. so excited!
